Frquently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1) Q.
Why did your company create the Biro88™ Diamond ?

Ans.
Master diamond cutter and engineer, Eugene Biro, sought to improve upon the 56-facet ideal cut round based on the calculations of German mathematician Marcel Tolkowsky, who in 1919 specified the dimensions needed to achieve the greatest brilliance in a diamond. Although Biro acknowledged that few improvements could be made on what has become a global standard, he continued to search for a means to perfect the way diamonds reflect light without reducing the area of the surfaces that direct light to the eye.

Driven by his passion for precision, Biro prepared and studied countless engineering drawings and cut, polished and examined hundreds of diamonds over a four year period. His goal was to strategically place each facet in a way that would maximize the light reflected through the diamond’s crown and table. Then, in the fall of 2005, Biro’s efforts were rewarded when he achieved what is the most brilliant round cut diamond on the market today, the Biro88™.

“We looked to the oldest and best in diamond cutting and improved what we could improve upon by adding facets in strategic places with specifically calculated angles that would increase the diamond’s brilliance without altering its beauty or reducing the faceted areas where light is absorbed and reflected.”
A diamond’s brilliance, according to Biro, is a matter of perception, but the scintillation of light is a measurable attribute. “We can scientifically demonstrate the superior scintillation of the Biro88™ Branded Diamond compared to any similarly graded diamond. The concept of scintillation is widely recognized. In fact, as of 2006, the Gemological Institute of America's certifications include a cut grade, which is the Institute’s proprietary term for scintillation.”

2) Q.
How does the Biro88™ Diamond differ from other Ideal Cuts ?

Ans.
Biro88™ has the same infrastructure as any perfectly cut Ideal diamond. The difference between them is the additional facets specifically added to maximize the scintillation. We added the additional facets in strategic places with specifically calculated angles that would increase the diamond’s brilliance without altering its beauty or reducing the faceted areas where light is absorbed and reflected.”

3) Q.
How long does it take to cut and polish create a Biro88™ Diamond ?

Ans.
The cutting and polishing process for a single Biro88™ Branded Diamond takes about 8 hours. The process is performed by highly skilled master diamond cutters.

Ans.

The obvious answer is by it's beauty and brilliance which are outstanding and unique, but on a more serious note:

All Biro88™ Diamonds come with a GIA or AGS certificate, a Gemex® light performance report and a Certificate of Authenticity which has an actual picture of the diamond and the laser inscriptions on the girdle, an additional security feature. The Laser inscription on the girdle of the Biro88™ Diamond is the Biro88™ logo, the unique Biro88™ serial number and the certifying gemological laboratory logo and report number. All of these certificates describe the Biro88™ diamond in detail and make it easy to identify.

7) Q.
Can you explain the importance of the 88 number of facets?

Ans.
The number of facets are important as long as they serve a purpose. The main objective for our Biro88™ diamond was to create the most brilliant diamond and we ultimately achieved it by arriving at the 88 facets configuration - We were up to 148+ facets and we did see the significant improvement in the brilliance of the diamond. The optimal facet configuration was at the 88 number with strategically placed facets without reducing the major areas where the light is reflected. We have a third party company which measure the brilliance of our diamond and you can clearly see the superior brilliance of the diamond.

7) Q.
From Ray C.: Everyone claims they have the worlds best cut diamond. the biro 88, the hearts on fire, the heart star, and whatever Zales best is; how do i know which is best? is it really yours?

Ans.
Dear Ray, First of all thank you for your interest in our product. The world best cut diamond is a marketing phrase - like the world best tailored suit. Every diamond has to be cut by cutters but as an old diamond saying goes " there are no two diamonds alike". When you are purchasing a diamond you don't purchase the "cut" and you don't wear the "cut" but you wear the look, the brilliance, the sparkle, the scintillation of the diamond which in our opinion is the most important thing. We engineered our Biro88™ diamond with a simple concept in our mind. We wanted to create the most brilliant diamond in the round shape. We think we have succeeded at creating it. We are basing our claim on the brilliance of the diamond - The most brilliant diamond - which can be seen, compared and measured. If you are comparing our diamond to any other diamond side by side you will see for yourself the superior brilliance of the diamond. We give 30 day unconditional money back guarantee so you can take our diamond to any other retailer and compare them side by side so you will see the difference which will convince you that the Biro88™ diamond is the most brilliant diamond. Hope this will answer some of your questions. Thank you again
